Privacy and takedowns

Last updated 4 November 2026

Want something removed? Email privacy@phenomena.news with the case number you were given when you sent your report (it starts with PH-) and your alias. We will take it off the site and delete what we hold within 30 days, and usually much sooner.

Who we are

Phenomena (phenomena.news) is run by Disrupta Technologies in the United Kingdom. We decide how the information you send us is used, which makes us the controller of it under UK data protection law. You can reach us at privacy@phenomena.news.

What we collect

Phenomena sets no cookies and uses no advertising or analytics tracking.

Why we use it

We use your report to review it, to publish it on Phenomena if we approve it, and possibly to feature it on the Phenomena YouTube channel. We rely on your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the report form. Your account may reveal your beliefs, and that box is also your explicit consent for us to handle that kind of information.

We also have a legitimate interest in checking reports and keeping out spam and abuse.

You must be 18 or over to send a report.

What becomes public

Every report is checked by a person before anything is published. If we approve yours, the website shows your alias, the phenomenon, date, time, location, country, continent, description and photos.

Your statement recording is never shown on the website. We may publish it on the Phenomena YouTube channel. If you filmed yourself, your face will be visible in that video unless you recorded in the dark.

We never publish your real name. Only our review team can see it, and we only use it if we need to check your report with you.

Who else handles it

We do not sell your information or share it with anyone else, unless the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep published reports for as long as Phenomena runs, unless you ask us to remove yours. If we decide not to publish a report, we keep it privately for up to 12 months in case you contact us about it, and then delete it.

Removing your report

Email privacy@phenomena.news with your case number and alias. We use the case number to confirm the report is yours, so keep it private. We will take your report off the website, take down any video of it on our YouTube channel, and permanently delete your report, recording and photos from our systems.

Once something has been public, we cannot remove copies other people may have made, such as screenshots or downloads of a YouTube video.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, object to how we use it, and withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it. Email us and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update it here and change the date at the top.
